Walking in the National Park

Walking also means "seeing", discovering horizons and crossing boundaries! Our National Park is not just an area for walking. It is a place where you can discover and appreciate a true paradise, with apple blossoms, lush green meadows, woods and groves stretching right up to the Alpine pasture land. It is easy to understand how many people believe that this brings them closer to God.

Every week there are guided walks in the Stelvio National Park along thematic routes that take you right up to the most beautiful mountain refuges, tempting you to join in and see behind the mountain scenery. See our calendar of events for details.

„Out of the bustling valley I head for the peace of the mountains. Up there, I can hear my heart beating and find my true self. I am no longer afraid of meeting myself“ (Thomas Bubendorfer)

Stand on a mountain peak, bask in the sense of achievement and take in the view all around. All around the Ortler you will find everything that is dear to a mountaineer’s heart. The Ortler, the Königsspitze and Cevedale are the kings of all mountains in the Ortles region. You will have a relaxing summer without any queuing.

Our tip for mountaineers: The Ortler, a vast mound of rocks and ice, the "highest peak in the whole of the Tyrol" (Peter Anich, 1774, in his Atlas Tyroliensis), should be the number one destination of every Alpine climber. However majestic and aloof it may seem as it towers over the Solda valley, it is not unapproachable. It is merely waiting for the sweat and the toil it wants to be "conquered".
